Yesterday was a Cooking in Bloom milestone and I wanted to share it with you. We hosted our very first cooking class live on Zoom with students from a local elementary school. Now that it's over I can admit that I was so nervous! I was nervous because I am not the best with technology. I feel like I am one of those people that if something is going to go wrong, it's going to go wrong for me. But, I am so proud to say, it was a success!
Together, the kids and I made the most delicious Spring Turkey Burger. Why do I call it a spring burger? Because I added some spring vegetables to it such as chopped onions and zucchini. Since they were chopped small and bite-sized they added to making the burger moist. And because usually, turkey burgers are very dry when cooked through, we added bread crumbs. Now interestingly when the burger is cooked the vegetable releases water that is absorbed by the bread crumb! Another thing I love about adding the bread crumb is it makes the burger less dense and easier to chew.
Everyone did an amazing job! It was so fun to watch live as the students followed along making their burgers. What a crazy, amazing experience! How fun is technology? While the burgers where cooking we make the special sauce to go on the top. The sauce was super easy and was perfectly paired with the Spring Turkey Burger. Of course, now that your mouth is watering, you know I'm going to share this recipe with you too so you can try it at home.
I had so much fun teaching live on Zoom and I can't wait to do it again!
